Exactly!! Just as the name suggests, if something is “Baja-proof,” it generally means it will withstand anything, anywhere. And that’s why I’m excited to kick off this series of mini life-changing tips that, with a great deal of patience, sweat, curses, and ultimately satisfaction, I’ve put to the test in the vast “playground” right outside my door—the harsh yet stunningly beautiful Baja California. These tips are also the result of countless conversations and interviews with the bikepackers I host every winter at my home, located midway along the Divide. The gear, modifications, and advice I’ll be sharing are all aimed at making a cyclist’s life in the Baja California desert—and beyond—more comfortable and, above all, safer.
